Bryn Athyn College presents Kishi Bashi in concert at Glencairn Museum. The event is open to all ages.
Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist K Ishibashi was born in Seattle, WA, but spent his formative years on the East Coast, where he honed his skills as a touring violinist for the likes of Sondre Lerche, Regina Spektor, and Of Montreal. K is also singer of the NYC synth rock band Jupiter One. In 2011 he embarked on an epic orchestral solo project, adopting the pseudonym Kishi Bashi, and eventually released the kaleidoscopic and meldoic 151A, his full-length solo debut in April 2012. The sophomore album, Lighght, followed in early 2014. Kishi Bashi's songs are "complicated pocket symphonies steeped in classical playing and 21st century pop" [NPR]; and his solo live show is a dazzling array of looping and vocal/violin gymnastics.
Local singer/songwriter Reade McCardell will open. Reade has been involved in music for a few small whiles now. He helped birth some strange sonic creatures with his friends in Red China in Detroit, participated in musical malpractice and magnificent kinship with the "pop-secret" outfit Fresh Cut Salads, played in a wondrous church band for a couple of years, and has contributed bits and pieces of incidental music to a few very small films. He just released his debut full-length album, "Frets," which is available on iTunes and Spotify.
